Hey, ya’ll! I know I’m a little late on this post as many northern hemisphere teachers are already done for the year, but I figured better late than never!

So, I created these business card messages for my students for the end of the year that contain our memories code. What is our “memories code”? It’s a QR code that when scanned, opens up all of the videos I have created for them throughout the year just using my iPhone. I actually have a post and video that explains all of this for you thoroughly, so I won’t repeat that again. Just click here or on the image below.

Last year, I actually did a similar idea but with a beach ball theme.

Creating a class videos QR code is awesome for so many reasons:

1) So much less time than creating DVDs or CDs with videos

2) So less expensive! Except for printing the business cards or whatever you decide to do – it’s free!

3) Videos can be shared with family and friends for years to come. All that’s needed is a smartphone or tablet and a scan app!

I chose two different formats via Vistaprint for giving my students their video QR code. The first was stickers. I stuck one in each of their yearbooks or memory books. In hindsight, I probably should have covered each one with packaging tape. Although the stickers cost around $14 for 50, to me it was well worth the money instead of having to sign 45 yearbooks! Call me lazy, but I call it saving time and energy! For me, laziness is the mother of invention in so many situations!

The second format was actual business cards. I ordered them from Vistaprint while they were having one of those huge semi-sales, so I think I got a pretty good deal. I bought 250, so that gives my students 4 each to keep and share with family and friends.

Here’s the front side:

When scanned, this is what appears on the device (I’m a Spanish immersion teacher by the way):

And on the back side, I decided to create a QR code that links to an Evernote full of educational links for students to explore during the summer break.

For delivery, I’m placing the four cards in a cellophane gift bag along with some stickers and erasers I ordered on Amazon (not shown because I’m last minute and they haven’t arrived yet. But I still have 3 days!) ***UPDATE: I ended up making personalized owl mustache gift tags for them – grab your free copy here.

So, if you like this idea, and you’d like to give it a try, I’ve actually created a free business card template for you.

To use:

1) Download and open the PowerPoint Template.

2) Fill in the text boxes.

3) Create your Memories QR Code and insert it as a photo onto the template.

4) Click on File > Save As Pictures.

5) Open up the image in whatever printing program you are going to use for your cards.
